Susannah works at the intersection of social change and new technologies. She’s a Co Founder and Principal of the engine room, an organization dedicated to improving coordination between technologists and social change makers, and a blogger for Mashable, The Huffington Post, PBS MediaShift and Global Voices Online. She’s provided expertise on the nexus of tech and social change for media outlets such as the New York Times, CNN, and FOX News, and speaks frequently on the topic. 

Prior to founding the engine room, she directed outreach and training content for the Alliance For Youth Movements (Movements.org), a non-profit organization dedicated to identifying, connecting and supporting grassroots youth activists using technology to organize for social change. In this role she built and managed relationships with campaigners from over 30 countries.  

Susannah got involved in the tech for social/political change community by way of academic research. She spent 2009 and 2010 investigating the role of Information Communications Technologies (ICTs) in democratization and development before leaving to work directly with grassroots organizers. She has a Master’s in Political Science from Columbia University and a Bachelor’s from New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study.
